Principal's Message
Dear Ashland Families,
We are beyond thrilled to welcome our Falcons join us for the first day of school on August 18, 2025! This will be my 19th year in Prince William County Public Schools and my fifth year as principal of Ashland Elementary School. I look forward to getting to know our students and families even more as we will have multiple opportunities for in-person community events and increased volunteer opportunities.
Ashland staff and students proudly embrace the motto “Together We SOAR Higher!” This guiding principle reflects our commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Ashland's vision—Kind, Creative, Safe, Hardworking, and Fun—is rooted in our core beliefs of respect, responsibility, and a strong sense of community. We strive to integrate academic, social, and emotional education into everyday learning so that 100% of our students are successful at school and prepared to create a thriving future for themselves and their community.
Parents and guardians are an integral part of the Ashland school community. We believe that it is our responsibility as a school to partner with our families to ensure that all children learn and achieve great results. We value open communication and collaboration. By working together, we can create a learning environment where every child feels supported, challenged, and celebrated.
Ashland is proud of its large military family population and offers a robust array of supports to families through our Purple Star Committee. Ashland has been a Purple Star school for six consecutive years. Ashland is also recognized as a No Place for Hate school community. No Place for Hate is designed to rally the entire school around creating a welcoming environment committed to stopping all forms of bias and bullying.
Ashland was ranked #3 out of 64 elementary schools in Prince William County by US News and World Report in 2025. This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, staff, and families, and highlights our commitment to academic excellence and a supportive school culture.
I look forward to a great school year at Ashland! As always, please contact us with any questions or concerns. We are here to support you!
Sincerely,
Anna Houseworth
