IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS, MEDICATION, AND HEALTH PLANS

The deadline for students to meet the immunization requirement for mandatory immunizations for public school enrollment is August 15, 2024. If proof of the required immunizations is not provided by August 15, 2024, the student will be excluded from school starting August 19, 2024, until the required immunization documentation has been provided to the school. All kindergarteners and students new to the county must provide a school entrance physical form as well as the required immunizations. For students requiring health treatment plans and/or medication, forms can be accessed using this link: www.pwcs.edu/departments/student_services/student_health/index. Please ensure they are submitted to the school nurse as soon as possible to allow for any necessary staff training. New treatment plans must be provided each school year. For the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, plans must be dated on or after May 1, 2024.

Medication Requirements

If your child needs to take medication at school, you must first fill out the appropriate medication permission form. Parents or guardians need to bring the medication to school. Please do not send it in with your child. Students are not allowed to carry medications in school for safety reasons.

Please be sure to remove any medications you place in your child's back pack if the backpack is used to transport medication after school and on the weekends.

Medication found in backpacks or in the students possession on school property is in violation of PWCS policies and may result in disciplinary actions. Exceptions to this rule is an Inhaler or Epipen if the doctor has signed a Treatment plan stating the student may carry the medication.

Reporting Student Absences

All student absences must be reported DAILY. Parents/ guardians need to call the Sick Line at 703 445-0809 or enter your child's absence in ParentVUE. Please leave the following information by 10:00 a.m. each school day. The Hotline works 24hrs a day, so you can leave a message the evening before or before school starts.

    • Fatigue
    • Headache
    • Abdominal pain
    • Muscle aches

    • Cough
    • Fever, please tell us how high the fever has been
