Core Beliefs
Core Beliefs
The core beliefs below were created by our school leadership team in the summer of 2020 as reminders of how we wish to support our students and community. These beliefs were reviewed and adjusted through our Advisory Council and Equity & Diversity Committee.
- We celebrate our diversity as a strength and welcome all students.
- We provide preventative and protective measures to ensure school safety.
- We commit to providing equitable opportunities and support.
- We adapt and problem-solve with change and challenges in a positive and productive way.
- We strive for the success of the whole child, including social, emotional, and academic goals.
School Song
The Falcon Song
Singing, soaring Ashland Falcons,
studying, learning, flying high.
We are learning altogether,
we can do it if we try.
Music, math and social studies,
reading, P.E., science and art.
Joyfully we learn together,
we will always do our part.
* Sung to the tune of Ode To Joy in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony
SOAR Characteristics
S - Supportive
O - Organized
A - Attentive
R - Respectful
These characteristics were created with staff input and used throughout the building to define quality characteristics for staff and students. An example of this is in the cafeteria where these SOAR words were further explained as to what they look and sound like in that setting. The cafeteria staff and 5th grade student leaders provided input to help create these expectations.
SOAR is used to help create a consistent and fair discipline approach through each classroom and setting in the school. Students, parents, and staff know these and use them when reminding students on proper behavior.
